About me
As Arthur C. Clarke once said, 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.' That idea still shapes how I approach the work. Since finishing my B.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Montreal, I've spent the start of my career at Desjardins, a well-known Canadian financial institution: first building tools and migrating mission-critical applications in asset management, then engineering data platforms for auto and home insurance, and today maintaining the cloud-native integration APIs and .NET backends that internal teams rely on every day.
Outside of work I'm a CFA candidate preparing for the Level I exam, which is also what took me to the certificate in market finance at HEC Montreal. The rest of my time goes to a steady stream of side projects — pricing comparators, tournament software, a solar flare detector — mostly as an excuse to learn something new.

Personal projects
Mobideal.ca (opens in a new tab)
Phone pricing comparator across Best Buy, Costco Mobile, and Walmart Wireless. Architecture includes an Oracle Autonomous Database and a Python script running on an Oracle Cloud VM that scrapes APIs every 8 hours to update the database. The frontend is built with React and connects to the Oracle DB through its own API.
ResumeTurbo.com (opens in a new tab)
Dynamic online resume generator. Implemented SwiftLaTeX, a WebAssembly LaTeX compiler, for real-time in-browser LaTeX rendering, and Mozilla's PDF.js for cross-platform PDF viewing.
SimoHakim.com + Generator (opens in a new tab)
Tool that generates a portfolio website and a matching LaTeX resume from a single JSON file. Example implementation: SimoHakim.com, my personal website.
ToTheFinal.app (opens in a new tab)
World Cup companion built to answer the questions my friends and I kept asking mid-tournament: who do we play next, can we still finish first, and what time is kickoff here? One webapp with live scores, group standings, a knockout bracket that updates as results land, outcome simulation, and kickoff times in both your timezone and the stadium's. Built entirely in React, with Cloudflare Workers proxying and caching the score API to stay clear of its rate limits. Free, ad-free and account-free — it reached 200,000 users over the course of the tournament.
Pairings.cloud
Web application for ranking and pairing players in large Swiss-system tournaments. Built with React for the Participants site and Electron for the Tournament Organizer companion app, leveraging Firebase as the backend database.
ASCII Sign Language Classification (Kaggle)
Achieved 1st place in a Kaggle competition focused on classifying sign language images, using Random Forest and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) enhanced with XGBoost.
Classification of Extreme Weather Events (Kaggle)
Developed models for detecting and classifying extreme weather events using climate data. Employed Logistic Regression, Linear SVM, and XGBoost.
Solar Flare Detection via Radio Blackouts Phenomenon
Building a machine learning model to locally detect solar flares in real time by monitoring radio frequencies (5–25 MHz) via RTL-SDR hardware.
AbraCarta - Shopify App
Shopify-integrated platform that helps card shop owners manage live inventory, automate updates, and display pricing in storefronts. Architected with a .NET backend, React/Remix frontend, RESTful APIs for internal operations, and GraphQL for Shopify integration.
